Mediterranean Games Oran 2022: the countdown started in a festive atmosphere

A brilliant ceremony with various activities was organized in Oran to mark the start of the countdown to the 19th edition of the Mediterranean Games scheduled for the summer of 2022.

The celebration of this event, initiated by the organizing committee (COJM) in collaboration with various partners and chaired by the Wali of Oran, Messaoud Djari, took place mainly at the level of the esplanade in the Sidi M’hamed garden, not far from the avenue of the National Liberation Army (ex-seafront).

Nearly 300 participants took part in various activities scheduled for the occasion, in the presence of a large audience made up mainly of families and young people.

The signal for the kick off of the festivities was given in the morning with a “treasure hunt”, an activity organized by the association Algerian Nomads” in collaboration with the OCMG with the goal of enhancing Oran heritage and the Algerian sports culture.

The official launch of the ceremony was carried out at 4.30 p.m. with activities by local dancers, cheerleaders and Philharmonic bands. At the same time, craft exhibitions and an exhibition of antique cars were occured.

On the sports side, basketball (3×3) and table tennis tournaments were organized and they were open to the public together with fencing, wrestling, karate, judo and taekwondo demonstrations.

The port company of Oran has contributed to the ceremony by carrying out a show of boats at the port of Oran in front of hundreds of citizens who were standing on the sea front.
