The Croatians, reigning world vice-champions, won by 4 penalties to 2, after the 0-0 rsult at the end of regulation time and 1-1 after extra time, where Neymar had scored the first goal in the 105th minute.

But against all odds, Bruno Petkovic equalized three minutes from time (117th), in the last Croatian counter-attack. As against Japan, this match ended up rewarding the stubbornness of Dalic’s players and put an end to Brazil’s dream of the 6th star.

It was the second penalty shootout in two games for Croatia, after eliminating Japan in the Round of 16 on Monday by 3 to 1.

Croatia will face Argentina in the semi-final next Tuesday.
