Miltos Tentoglou with an amazing jump of 8.41 meters vaulted to the top of the podium, giving Greece the first gold medal of the competition in the History of the Olympic Games.
The Greek athlete’s first jump was at 8.11 meters, but then made two invalid attempts that dropped him to fifth place. Miltos Tentoglou did not lose his composure and courage and pursued the distinction, which came with his last jump at 8.41.
At the same day, Eleftherios Petrounias has won a bronze medal for Greece in the men’s rings final.
His score of 15.200 saw him place third after Liu Yang from China claimed a gold medal with 15.500 and You Hao from China won silver with 15.300.
This is Petrounias’ second Olympic medal in his legendary career and Greece’s third medal during the Tokyo Olympics.
