Hellenic Olympic Committee launches major upgrade and restoration works at the Panathenaic Stadium
July 2, 2026The Portuguese Olympic Committee (COP) hosted the contract signing ceremony for the second funding programme supporting the recruitment of National Technical Directors and Sports Managers by the National Sports Federations.
Opening the ceremony, COP President Fernando Gomes highlighted the importance of this initiative in strengthening the organizational capacity of the federations and consolidating increasingly qualified technical and management structures.
“If, in the first phase of this initiative, we launched a process of transformation, today we continue that commitment. The programme has a very clear objective: to further contribute to the professionalization of the federations,” said the COP President.
Under this second funding programme, 18 National Sports Federations received support, enabling the recruitment of nine National Technical Directors (seven men and two women) and 14 Sports Managers (10 men and four women), further strengthening their structures through the employment of qualified professionals.
During the first phase, for which contracts were signed in February this year, 25 National Sports Federations benefited from the support programme.
