The training program of the Portuguese Olympic Committee (COP), “Olympic Performance” will resume its regular events and opens this year with a set of sessions dedicated to parents of athletes.

Olympic Performance had previously been dedicated to athletes but has now developed specialist sessions for parents.

The program started on the 17th of February, with José Gomes Pereira, Director of Sports Medicine at the COP and the theme “Control and Medical-Sports Assessment of the Athlete”. This is followed on March 8 by training on “Balanced and Adequate Diet for Performance” by Cláudia Minderico, Nutritionist at the COP. On March 27, the theme is integrity and “Prevention of Competition Manipulation”, a session guided by Joana Gonçalves, COP Integrity Program Manager.

In April, the session is dedicated to psychology and the ideal profile of Olympic families, with Ana Bispo Ramires, COP Psychologist. The cycle dedicated to guardians ends on May 30th with the session on protection of athletes that will address violence and abuse of young athletes with Cristina Almeida, Director of the Department of Studies and Projects at the COP.
