More than 10.000 voters took part in the online survey for the mascot of the Mediterranean Games “Taranto 2026”. Ionios took the 48% of preferences, followed by Skuma with 28% and Ikkos with 23%.

The first Ionios prototype, made by artisans from Taranto, was presented during the inauguration of the Organizing Committee of the Mediterranean Games in the presence of the Puglia region President, Michele Emiliano and Mayor Rinaldo Melucci.

Ionios has the task of representing the great sports competition that will bring the national and international spotlights on Taranto. It is a dolphin with a trendy hairstyle, carrying a torch in his fin and it’s the symbol of the city of Taranto.

The other two maskots, Skuma and Ikkos will also contribute to promoting the image of Taranto and the Mediterranean Games.
