Portuguese Olympic Committee meets the President of the Republic

The President of the Republic of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, welcomed the President of the Olympic Committee of Portugal, José Manuel Constantino and the Secretary General, José Manuel Araújo.

During the meeting, the officials of the Olympic Committee expressed the difficulties they are facing in order to restart sports activities in the country, after the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.

José Manuel Constantino and José Manuel Araújo asked the help of the President to use his influence to the government authorities to respond in the proposals that have been submitted by the country’s sports institutions, in order to find solutions for a quick come back  to the regularity , in a safe way.

The President of the Republic was already aware of the proposal that the Portuguese Olympic Committee had submitted, for the establishment of a Special Sport Support Fund, as a means to relieve the difficulties that the world of sport has faced due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
