Cyprus: Online celebration of the Olympic Day

The eleven athletes of the Cyprus Olympic Team, Olympic hopefuls, former Olympians and current champions all came together on Instagram on 23 June to celebrate the International Olympic Day, in response to the campaign called by the Cyprus National Olympic Committee.

Using the hashtags #OlympicDay and #TeamCyprus and tagging @cyprusolympic, the athletes posted tens of beautiful pictures and hopeful messages, thus promoting the messages of the Olympic Day.

All eleven Cypriot athletes who have qualified so far for “Tokyo 2020” participated in the campaign. They are shooters Andri Eleftheriou, Andreas Makris and Demetris Constantinou, sailors Pavlos Kontides, Andreas Cariolou and Marilena Makri, from athletics Milan Trajkovic, Eleni Artymata and Apostolos Parellis, gymnast Marios Georgiou and cyclist Andri Christoforou.

Olympians Ramona Papaioannou, Marios Athanasiadis, Christopher Papamichalopoulos, Sophia Papamichalopoulou, Chrystalleni Trikomiti, Dora Kyriacou, Leontia Kallenou, Stavros Michaelides and Andri Sialou also participated in the campaign. They were joined by more of Cyprus’ top athletes and young talents, fans and organizations.
