The Olympic medalist in high jump, president of the Algerian Olympic Committee and member of the ICMG Executive Committee Abderahmane Hammad has been appointed by the President of the Algerian Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune, as the Minister of Youth and sports, replacing Abderrazak Sebgag.

Born on May 27, 1977 in Dellys (wilaya of Boumerdes), Hammad, a high jump athlete, had been crowned African champion three times (1998, 2000 and 2002), and won the bronze medal at the 2000 Olympics in Sidney. He is the President of the Algerian Olympic and Sports Committee since September 22, 2020.
