Forty-three (43) sports venues have been selected by the Organizing Committee of the Mediterranean Games for the 19th edition of this regional event, scheduled for Oran in 2022.

Among these venues, 24 will host the official competitions and the rest will be used for the preparation of athletes from the 26 countries expected to take part in this sporting event that Algeria is hosting for the second time in history, told Sofiane Benchekor, member of the Organizing Committee.

All the infrastructures are located in the wilaya of Oran, except the new stadium of Sig (wilaya of Mascara) which will be inaugurated soon and it will host a few football matches, said the same source.

The other matches of the football tournament will take place in the 40,000-seat stadium belonging to the Oran Olympic complex which is under construction and will also host athletics events.

Scheduled for the summer of 2021, the Mediterranean Games have been postponed until the following year (June 25-July 5, 2022) due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
