The Executive Committee of the International Committee of Mediterranean Games, held its last meeting for 2019 in Oran, Algeria, in the framework of the visit of the Evaluation Commission to the host city of the 2021 Games.
The Executive Commission has appointed the members of the Coordination Commission who will be responsible for monitoring the progress of the preparation of the Mediterranean Games in 2026, unanimously accepting President Amar Addadi’s proposal.
The 1st ICMG Vice President, the Spanish Victor Sanchez, was appointed President of the Coordination Commission while the members are: Mohamed Zribi (Tunisia), Zakia Bartagi (Tunisia), Davide Tizzano (Italy), Joseph Cassar (Malta). The legal form and members of the Organizing Committee for “Taranto 2026” will be announced in January 2020 and the first visit of the Organizing Committee to the city will be organized right after.
In the same framework of the decisions of the Executive Commission, Mr. Mohamed Zribi (Tunisia) was appointed President of the Technical Commission and the member of the Executive Commission, General Souhail Khury was appointed President of the Evaluation Commission for the Mediterranean Beach Games.
The Executive Commission decided to immediately comply with the WADA anti-doping rules in the view of the Oran Games in 2021 and approved the organization of the debriefing seminar for the Patras Mediterranean Beach Games, in the city of Nicosia, Cyprus, from 5 to 7 March 2020.
As part of its visit, the Executive Commission held a joint meeting with the “Oran 2021” Organizing Committee, in the presence of the Chairman of the Committee and Minister of Youth and Sports of Algeria, Mr. Raouf Salim Bernaoui and the Wali of Oran, Mr. Abdelkader Djellaoui. The Director General of the Games, Mr. Salim Iles and the directors of the operational sectors presented the progress of the preparations for the event.
