Turkish archer Mete Gazoz wins Turkish delegation’s first gold medal at Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games

Turkish archer Mete Gazoz won the gold medal after beating Italy’s Mauro Nespoli 6-4 in the archery individual final at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.

In a breathtaking 5th set, Mete Gazoz led 9-8 after the first shots, then the two archers continue with a clear round to arrive at 19-18.

The Turkish archer by scoring his last shot at 10 points secured the gold medal without waiting for the shot from his Italian opponent, allowing him to win 6-4 in the final.

The silver medal went to Nespoli, while the bronze medal went to the Japanese Takaharu Furukawa.
