The Slovenian Olympic Committee organizes a torch relay for the Tokyo Olympic Games, which will travel all over the country.

The aim of the Slovenian relay, given that it is prohibited for the foreign fans to travel to Tokyo, is to inspire the athletes of the country to have the best possible result.

The torch relay started on May 3 at the city of Bovec and will last 81 days, until the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games on July 23. The relay will pass from the 212 municipalities of Slovenia covering 10,000 km with the participation of famous champions, athletes and citizens.

The torch is made of stainless steel and the wood comes from beech tree. The shape and the choice of materials have a strong symbolism: the recycled stainless steel as a symbol of strength and durability and the beech wood as a symbol of wisdom and trust. The beech wood handle has the five Olympic circles.
