The Mediterranean Beach Games Heraklion 2023 provided the opportunity for productive meetings between the Olympic and the Mediterranean family.

The ANOC Events Commission, chaired by Mr. Timothy Fok met on September 9th 2023 in Heraklion, Greece.

The meeting involved discussions over the cancellation of the Bali 2023 AWBG, its impacts and the future of the project. ANOC Secretary General and IOC Member, Gunilla Lindberg, presented the plans and preparations for the Cascais 2024 ANOC General Assembly and ANOC Awards. The members appreciated the advanced plans with the Portugal NOC.

Mr. Gustavo Harada from the ANOC Team presented the commission members on the status and preparations for the upcoming Digital Accelerator Programme webinars and workshops, as well as the NOC Sports Directors Seminars coming years.

The commission members, including the IOC Members Timothy Fok, Lingwei Li, were also able to attend the Opening Ceremony of the Games and enjoy the Cretan hospitality and celebration of beach sports.

The Opening Ceremony was also attended by many distinguished guests from the Olympic and the Mediterranean Family. The President of the European Olympic Committees and IOC member Spyros Capralos was also in Heraklion, together with IF Presidents, such as Hassan Mustafa for the International Handball Federation and Klaus Schormann for the UIPM.
