The message of Pope Leo XIV for the opening of the Mediterranean Games Taranto 2026

In an atmosphere of emotion but also optimism, the Executive Committee of the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games (ICMG) held its final meeting, two days before the opening of the Mediterranean Games Taranto 2026.

The First Vice-President, serving as Acting President, Mehrez Boussayene, thanked all members of the Executive Committee for their cooperation, praised the work of Secretary General Iakovos Filippousis, and paid tribute to the late ICMG President Davide Tizzano.

The ICMG activity report was presented by Secretary General Iakovos Filippousis, who also referred to the Mediterranean Games Taranto 2026, the progress made so far, the two cruise ships, Aroya and Romantica, which are serving as the Mediterranean Villages, as well as the ossues that still need to be resolved.

Treasurer Yiotis Ioannidis presented the financial report, while the President of the Coordination Commission for the Mediterranean Beach Games, Ilias Dalainas, requested approval of the medals and pictograms for the event to be held in Portimão and Lagoa in 2027.

At the end of the meeting, all members wished success to the new Executive Committee that will be elected on August 20, as well as great success to the Mediterranean Games Taranto 2026.
