The ICMG Ordinary Elective General Assembly took place in Taranto at the 20th of August, one day before the opening of the Mediterranean Games Taranto 2026.

The results of he election of the ICMG Executive Committee for the period 2026-2030 are the following:

President: Francesco Purromuto (ΙΤΑ)

1st Vice-President: Mehrez Boussayene ( TUN)

2nd Vice-President: Bernard Amsalem ( FRA)

Secretary General: Iakovos Filippousis ( GRE)

Treasurer: Yiotis Ioannides  ( CYP)

Τhese are also the members of the Executive Bureau and were elected unanimously.

As members of the Executive Committee were also elected:

  • Υasser Idris (EGY)
  • Maja Pekovic (MNE)
  • Pedro Farroba (POR)
  • Cayetano Cornet ( ESP)
  • Abdellatif Idmahamma (MAR)
  •  Blaz Perko ( SLO)
  • Ayda Uluc (TUR)

The Executive Committee will be supplemented by two additional members as well as the Chair of the Athletes’ Commission.

Francesco Purromuto  –  CV

Francesco Purromuto is an Italian lawyer, university professor and senior sports administrator with extensive experience in national and international sports governance.

He served as President of the Italian Handball Federation (FIGH) from 1997 to 2017 and was a member of the CONI National Council. He also served as President of the Mediterranean Handball Confederation and has held various responsibilities within the Italian Olympic and sports movement. He is currently Coordinator of the Editorial Committee of CONI’s Rivista di Diritto Sportivo.

Purromuto served as President of the ICMG Ethics and Juridical Commission, where he played a leading role in strengthening governance and ethical standards within the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games. In 2023, under his leadership, the ICMG adopted its first Code of Ethics, a landmark institutional reform for the organisation.

He has also contributed to the legal and institutional development of the Mediterranean Games, including the preparation of amendments to the ICMG Charter.
