The ICMG President Davide Tizzano awarded the first medals of the Mediterranean Games Oran 2022.

The first finals were in karate and Algerian karateka Sylia Ouikene won the first gold medal of the Mediterranean Games, beating Egyptian Reem Salama (5-0) in the final of the under -50 kg category.

The two bronze medals went to Morocco’s El Hayti Chaima and Spain’s Pinilla Sanchez Alba.

President Tizzano also awarded the medals at the category -55 kg with karateka Louiza Abbouriche (-55 kg) gave Algeria its second gold medal at the 2022 Mediterranean Games, after its victory (4-1) against the Egyptian Ahlam Youssef.

The under-55 kilos podium was completed by the Italian Victorie Brunori and the Turkish Tugba Yakan, both bronze medalists.
