The Prime Minister, Aïmene Benabderrahma, announced, on behalf of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, on Wednesday evening in Oran, the closing of the 19th edition of the Mediterranean Games Oran 2022, during a ceremony at the Olympic complex ” Miloud Hadefi”.

“As is customary, I officially announce, on behalf of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defence, the closing of the 19th Mediterranean Games Oran 2022 and I invite the youth of the Mediterranean basin to gather, in four years, in the Italian city of Taranto to celebrate the 20th edition of the games”, declared Mr. Aïmene Benabderrahmane.

He noticed that “after ten days of intense competition between the different national teams taking part in this tournament, which showed the real level reached by sport in the countries bordering the Mediterranean, we are now experiencing the last moments of the 19th edition of the Mediterranean Games, which the ancient city of Oran welcomed with its history and the hospitality of its inhabitants”.

The Prime Minister also expressed his gratitude to the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games and thanked them for their cooperation, support and “understanding of the challenges and circumstances we faced throughout the period of preparation”.

The closing ceremony was attended by the President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Mrs. Sahle-Work Zewde, as guest of honour.

They also took part in this ceremony members of the government, advisers to the President of the Republic, as well as representatives of countries and organizations.

The 19th edition of the Mediterranean Games which officially ends on Wednesday evening after twelve days of competition, brought together some 3,400 athletes from 26 countries and in 24 disciplines.
