In accordance with the Regulation of the Athletes’ Commission two athletes, a male and a female, will be elected on the occasion of the second edition of the Mediterranean Beach Games Patras 2019 (25-31 August) in order to ensure a balance between the two genders. It is also recommended that there be a representation from different regions and different sports or disciplines.
The candidates for the second elections of the ICMG Athletes Commission are the following:
Women :
- Ms Karla Sitic, Open Water Swimming, Croatia
- Ms Manolina Konstantinou, Beach Volley, Cyprus
Men :
- Igor Boraska, Rowing, Croatia
- Kyriakos Sofokleous, Beach Handball, Cyprus
THE ICMG ATHLETES’ COMMISION?
On 29 November 2013 the Executive Committee decided to create the ICMG Athletes’ Commission. The first meeting of the Commission was held in Rome on 30 June 2014. The Regulation of the Athletes’ Commission was approved during that meeting and was finalized at the meeting of the ICMG Executive Committee on 13 March 2015 in Tarragona.
The first elections of the Commission were held on the occasion of the Mediterranean Games of Tarragona 2018 (22 June – 1 July).
The ICMG Athletes’ Commission looks out for the athletes. It consists of six members who are former or active Mediterranean Games athletes, four elected by athletes competing in the Mediterranean Games, two elected by athletes competing in the Mediterranean Beach Games and with up to three members appointed by the ICMG President.
