“I put my shoulder in it, I get vaccinated.” This is the awareness-raising campaign motto that the National Sammarinese Olympic Committee (CONS) has promoted in the past weeks on its social media sites, involving athletes, coaches, managers of the Sammarinese sports movement and the members of the Organising Committee for the Games of the Small States San Marino 2017.

Heeding a call from the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the CONS decided to support and promote vaccinations for all the world’s athletes, in view of the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, fully convinced that a real restart of SAN MARINO – CONS supports vaccine campaign sport is only possible with a large immunisation of the population.

Upon launching the campaign, CONS President Gian Primo Giardi stated: We cannot wait to play sport again as we have always done – without restrictions and in front of spectators, who could clap and spur on the athletes. Sport lives on emotions and generates emotions. In order to get back to this condition, it is necessary to win the battle against the pandemic. Vaccines give a fundamental help in this way, to go back to play sport safely and to organise again great sports events.”
