Pesaro will host the Mediterranean Beach Games 2023

The Italian city of Pesaro will host the 3rd Mediterranean Beach Games in September 2023. The decision was taken by the International Committee of Mediterranean Games after the conclusion of the electronic voting which began on the 27th of January and ended on the 9th of February.

Pesaro have been chosen as the host city by an unanimous decision where the votes came from the National Olympic Committees-members of ICMG and the members of the International Olympic Committee from Mediterranean countries.

Amar Addadi, the ICMG President announcing the result to the Mayor of Pesaro, noticed: “I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate both the City of Pesaro and you personally for this election and welcome you to the Mediterranean Family. We are convinced that the third edition of the Mediterranean Beach Games will be a great success following the examples of Pescara 2015 and Patras 2019.”

According to the candidate file, the Mediterranean Beach Games in Pesaro will take place from September 16 to September 23, 2023, in 11 different sports.

Pesaro is located in the region of Marche, on the coast of the northern Adriatic and has a long tradition in sports, especially in the aquatics, cycling and basketball. It has previously hosted major sporting events while the local teams are leading the way in Italian sports.

The opening and the closing ceremony of the Games will be hosted on the city’s indoor court, while sand sports will take place at the famous beach Bahia Flaminia.

In the following days the President Amar Addadi accompanied by an ICMG delegation will travel to Pesaro to meet the local authorities and the Italian Olympic Committee, for the signature of the Host City Contract and the handover of the ICMG flag.
