At the annual Croatian Olympic Committee awards, double Olympic discus champion Sandra Perković won the title of best Croatian female athlete of the year for a record eighth time in a row.
Gymnast Tin Srbić was named as the best male athlete. Other awardees included rowers Martin and Valent Sinković as best crew, couple or relay, for the seventh consecutive time.
“It hasn’t been going well for me lately, but the Tokyo Olympics are coming,” Perković said. “We had a miracle in Rio [2016], with 10 medals, and I think in Tokyo, Croatian athletes can win more.”
