The draws of the Beach Handball and Beach Soccer tournaments of the 2nd Mediterranean Beach Games to be held in Patras, 25-31 August 2019, have been conducted.
In men’s Beach Handball tournament, Greece chose, as the host country, to participate in Group B’, in which it will compete against Tunisia, the title holder in the Mediterranean Beach Games of Pescara in 2015, as well as Italy, Malta, Libya and Albania.
In Group A’ Croatia, Portugal, Egypt, Cyprus, Algeria, Syria and Morocco were drawn. Four teams from each group are qualified for the quarter-finals.
In women’s Beach Handball, there will be only one group of seven teams. In this group, Greece, the world champion and holder of the silver medal, will compete against Italy, the holder of the gold medal, as well as Algeria, Cyprus, Portugal, Syria and Tunisia.
In men’s Beach Soccer tournament, the draw will be held in knockout games.
Greece, as the host country, will start from the second phase where it will face the winner of the competition between France and Egypt, in order to be qualified for the final four countries.
In the second phase, Tunisia was drawn to face Algeria, while Syria will face the winner of the Albanian-Moroccan pairing and Italy, the gold medalist, just like Greece, passed directly to the second phase and will face the winner of the Portugal-Libyan pairing.
