A significant increase in participation in the 2nd Mediterranean Beach Games “Patras 2019”

The initial stage of registration (figures) of the athletes and coaches who will take part in the 2nd Mediterranean Beach Games to be held in Patras on 25-31 August 2019 was completed.  A total of 1.020 athletes and 300 coaches  from the 26 countries – members of the International Committee of Mediterranean Games, from three continents (Europe, Asia, Africa), have registered.

The number of athletes participating in the 2nd Mediterranean Beach Games is increased by 257 athletes or by a percentage of 33.68% compared to the corresponding organization in Pescara in 2015, where 763 athletes participated in 11 sports, which will also be held in Patras. Of the 1.020 athletes, 634 or 60% are men and 386 or 40% are women. It should be noted that the total number of those who will be found in the Achaean capital for the Games will increase considerably by adding, beyond the coaches and officials of each mission, the referees – judges too and is expected to exceed 2.000.

From the sports of the Games, a remarkable increase is seen in Beach Handball, Beach Rowing Sprint, Beach Tennis, Beach Wrestling and Canoe Ocean Racing.
