The Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina has successfully implemented a project on “Olympic Venues and Environmental Sustainability” as a part of its annual activities for the community development and environmental sustainability.
Thanks to this initiative and with the help of over 800 volunteers, 6,250 seedlings were planted at the Olympic venue Bjelašnica. In addition, a series of lessons on nature preservation, environmental sustainability and Olympic values were organised at secondary schools in the country.
“This is a unique opportunity to learn how Olympic values can be linked to the importance of preserving nature as well as our sport facilities,” said one of the volunteers. “This is the third year in a row that I take part in the project, and I feel that every time I’m making a difference. I’m really looking forward to the next one.”
