Nine medals for the Mediterranean countries at the European Shooting Championship

The athletes of the Mediterranean countries had an outstanding performance at the European Athletics Indoor Championships held between 1st and 3rd March 2019 in Glasgow.

In a total of 78 medals in the event, our athletes won 22, demonstrating both the great tradition of the Mediterranean countries in Athletics and the dynamics of sport in our countries.

From a total of 22 medals, 15 were won by men and 7 by women, while there was an event, the men’s 60metres hurdles, where all three athletes who climbed the podium came from the Mediterranean Basin and were Trajkovic from Cyprus, Martinot-Lagarde and Manga both from France.

In terms of countries, Spain made the best appearance from the Mediterranean with six medals, three of which were gold, followed by Greece, Italy and Serbia.

In details, the medals won by the Mediterranean countries are:

Spain: 3 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze

Greece: 1 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze

Italy: 1 gold, 1 bronze

Serbia: 1 gold, 1 bronze

Cyprus: 1 gold

France: 2 silver, 3 bronze

Portugal: 1 silver

Turkiye: 1 silver
