The President of the Albanian Olympic Committee Fidel Ylli praised the progress of the preparations of Oran, hosting next summer the 19th edition of the Mediterranean Games, noting that “all means are in place for the success of the event”.
Mr. Ylli was informed about the progress by the recent visits to Algeria of the officials of the International Committee of Mediterranean Games (ICMG) and the Chefs de Mission meeting of ICMG countries – members.
Regarding the participation of Albanian athletes, Mr. Ylli affirmed his will to bring together all the means for a good preparation of the athletes, adding that he is optimist for good results of Albania during these games.
Ylli also made no secret of his ambitions to win as many medals as possible, by engaging the best athletes who represented Albania at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, notably in the disciplines of boxing, judo and gymnastics.
He also underlined the importance of this event, considering that in addition to the cultural and civilizational dimension that represents for the peoples of the region, it “gives the opportunity to the greatest possible number of athletes to take part in it, unlike what is the case of the Olympic Games.”
