CONI President Giovanni Malagò, has become a Knight of the Grand Cross. It is the highest honor conferred by the Presidency of the Republic and was awarded to the number one in Italian sport by the Head of State – Sergio Mattarella – at the Quirinale, before the ceremony of handing over the Italian flag- in view of the Beijing 2022 Games – to Sofia Goggia and Giacomo Bertagnolli.

It is another testimony of President Mattarella’s special bond with Italian sport, at the end of an unforgettable year for the entire sports movement. Malagò underlined his “great honor for having been awarded the highest recognition, an honor that I share with my beloved world. Proud of sport, proud to be Italian”.
