The Executive Committee of the International Boxing Association (AIBA) met by teleconference and accepted the resignation of Gafur Rakhimov and nominated the head of the African Boxing Confederation, Morocco’s Mohamed Moustahsane as the Interim President. Moustahsane, 50, is a medical doctor.

Rakhimov, announced that he was stepping down as AIBA President just a few days before the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board meet to consider an interim report into the organisation’s governance, financial management and integrity of its competitions.
