The Turkish Ministry of Youth and Sports organized the “Night of the Stars – Team Turkiye Congratulatory Ceremony” on Tuesday, January 18 for the athletes, coaches and technical staff participating in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The event was attended by the Minister of Youth and Sports Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu, Japan’s  Ambassador in Turkiye Suzuki Kazuhiro and personalities from the sports, art and business community. The President of the Turkish National Olympic Committee (TMOK) Prof. Dr. Uğur Erdener and the Secretary General Neşe Gündoğan also attended the event.

The ceremony started with the opening speeches of Mete Gazoz, Busenaz Sürmeneli, Abdullah Öztürk and Reyhan Yılmaz on behalf of the athletes competing in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

Minister Kasapoğlu, in his speech, thanked all the heroes of the the Team Turkiye. “We wanted to honor our athletes who successfully represented Turkiye in Tokyo 2020 at a time when we desperately needed good news. They wrote history!” said the Minister of Youth and Sports.
