Ivana Vuleta, two-time indoor world champion in the long jump, took her first outdoor crown with a jump of 7.14m.
Among her great collection of international medals (14), Ivana Vuleta was yet to have a gold in the World Outdoor Championships. She did it by winning, at 33, the final of the World Championships in Budapest.
She was already in the lead from the second attempt with 7.05m.She is the only one to cross the bar of 7 meters during the final. The favorite Tara Davis-Woodhall obtains the silver medal thanks to a jump at 6.91 m. Romania takes the last place on the podium with Alina Rotaru-Kottmann (6.88 m.)
Vuleta, who jumped under the name Spanovic for a long time before getting married, has won everything indoors. Outdoors, she finished third at the 2016 Olympics and at the 2013 and 2015 Worlds and won the 2016 and 2022 European Championships. 7.14m is also her best outdoor jump, behind her record at 7.24m indoors in 2017.
