For World Press Freedom Day, the Algerian NOC (COA), in collaboration with the National Organisation of Algerian Sports Journalists (ONJSA) organised a seminar on 2 May entitled “Sports Press in Algeria: an analysis”.

Various speakers analysed the situation of the Algerian sports press, particularly during the period of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as competition from websites and social media. The second segment focused on “Football in the Spotlight” and the role of public powers to promote other sports.

The participants also spoke about developing a charter of work and honour between the press and the various sports partners (the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the COA, sports federations, leagues and clubs). Active and retired journalists who have made their mark in sport were also honoured.
