An event as part of the “Mediterranean Power – Mare Nostrum” project was organized at the Notre-Dame de Santa Cruz Sanctuary of Oran, during the Mediterranean Games.
The project which includes activities to raise awareness of the fight against breast cancer, with the help of the local Catholic community, consisted of two sessions, morning and afternoon including sporting activities for women.
In the morning’s activities, the President of the ICMG Women in Sport Commission, Mrs. Elif Ozdemir, addressed to the public along with representatives of the Orano Catholic community and specialised doctors.
The ICMG President Davide Tizzano and the Under-Secretary for Culture and Sport of the Vatican, Monsignor Melchor Sanchez de Toca y Alameda, attended the afternoon session and analyzed the benefits of the project against breast cancer
The project “Mediterranean Power – Mare Nostrum” aims to widespread the prevention of cancer, through sport and in particular rowing and has the full support of the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games.
