The Secretary General of the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games (ICMG), Iakovos Filippousis, accompanied by the leadership of the Olympic Committee of Kosovo (OCK) – President Ismet Krasniqi, Secretary General Besim Aliti and Vice President Milaim Kelmendi – was received by the newly appointed Minister for Sport and Youth, Blerim Gashani.

Secretary General Filippousis was invited by Minister Gashani on the occasion of his visit to Prishtina to participate in the ICMG “Women in Sport” Commission annual meeting.

Discussions were focused on the organization of the Mediterranean Games Prishtina 2030. Minister Gashani expressed his strong commitment, willingness and readiness to cooperate with the ICMG and all relevant stakeholders, with the aim of making the Prishtina Games a model host for such a major event.

Mr. Filippousis congratulated the Minister on his new position and expressed ICMG’s satisfaction for the full commitment of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport to the processes ahead in organizing the 21st edition of the Mediterranean Games, the largest sporting event ever to be hosted in the country.

He also highlighted the pivotal role of the sports preparation of the country in order to present competitive teams in the Taranto2026 and Prishtina2030 Mediterranean Games and called for the acceleration of the procedures regarding the construction and renovation of the Games Mediterranean Village and Sports facilities.

President of the KOK, Ismet Krasniqi, emphasized that unity and cooperation among all institutions are essential to ensure that the organization process moves forward swiftly, so that everything will be ready by 2030.
