IOC Member Mustapha Berraf who is also President of the Algerian NOC and the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA), has been awarded the Hungarian Order of Merit, in recognition of his contribution to the promotion of exchanges between Hungary and Algeria in the field of sport and Olympic matters. He was presented with the distinction in Algiers by the Hungarian Ambassador to Algeria, Helga Katalin Pritz.
“President Berraf has showed the way for many exchanges, training sessions for high-level athletes and sharing of knowledge with other sports professionals” said the Ambassador. The President of the AOC said that he “wants to take advantage of the Hungarian experience and use it in the Algerian sport, especially in the preparation of athletes, technical supervision and also in organizing major events”.
The Algerian-Hungarian cooperation in the field of sport was made effective following a framework agreement, signed on 23 March 2018 by the AOC with the National Olympic Committee of Hungary, covering several aspects, in anticipation of the next international deadlines. Through this cooperation agreement, sixty-one (61) athletes from ten sports federations travelled to Budapest (Hungary) last August, as part of the launch of the process of preparing young athletes of different disciplines for the Youth Olympic Games 2022 in Dakar (Senegal).
