The flag of the Mediterranean Games arrived in Italy in the hands of Rinaldo Melucci, mayor of Taranto, the city that will host the event in 4 years, taking the baton from Oran 2022. The Italian team returned from Algeria leading by the CONI Secretary General Carlo Moranti and by the Head of Italian Mission Giampiero Pastore.
The mediterranean flag was welcomed by the president of the Italian National Olympic Committee, Giovanni Malagò, the Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Manlio Di Stefano and the Vice President for the External Relations and Sustainability of Aeroporti di Roma, Veronica Pamio.
The President of the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games Davide Tizzano said: “We have been working for more than three years on the Taranto 2026 project. We have clear ideas about what we want to do and I thank the Apulian institutions for their dedication to the mission of the Games. Italy is an important point of reference for the 25 countries, it is an opportunity to reaffirm our reliability and consistency “.
