The pace of preparations in Patras is picking up in view of the 2nd Mediterranean Beach Games which are to be held in the city from 25 to 31 August 2019.
The composition of the new Organizing Committee (OCMBG), under the presidency of Mr. Fotis Sarantopoulos, has already been announced. Apart from the President, the Executive Committee is composed of a Vice President, Mr. Plato Marlafekas, and a Secretary General, Mr. Elias Grigoris.
Next Thursday, February the 7th, there will be the official presentation of the OCMBG, its operational plan and staffing, as well as a broad meeting on the course and timetable of the preparation of the 2nd edition of the Mediterranean Beach Games, in the presence of the Greek Deputy Minister of Sports, Mr. George Vassiliadis, the Secretary General of the ICMG, Mr. Iakovos Filippousis, the Secretary General of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, Mr. Manolis Kolymbadis, and members of the OCMBG.
The Regional Governor, Mr. Apostolos Katsifaras, and the Mayor of Patras, Mr. Konstantinos Peletidis, are also going to attend this event, highlighting the broad support of the local authorities and of the society of Western Greece to the preparation of the Games.
The official website of the Games, with important information on sports and competitions, has been launched and is available at www.mbgpatras2019.gr , and the Organizing Committee is now in direct contact with the National Olympic Committees.
The organization chart of the OCMBG, the final sports program of the Games and the exact location of the sports venues will be announced within the following days.
More than 1,000 athletes from 26 countries are expected to compete in 12 sports during the Mediterranean Beach Games.
