The best Algerian athletes of the year 2023 were honored during a ceremony organized at the Abdelatif-Rahal International Conference Center in Algiers.
In the event, which brought together many political and sporting personalities, the winners of the poll organized by the Agence Algérie Presse Service (APS) in collaboration with the national sports press have been awarded. The awards ceremony, orchestrated by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Abderrahmane Hammad, and the Director General of the Agence Algérie Presse Service (APS), Mr. Samir Gaïd, symbolized an evening dedicated to excellence athletic.
In the senior category, the Algerian sports press praised the trac and field athlete Slimane Moula and the gymnast Kaylia Nemour. In the men’s category, Slimane Moula (athletics) won the prize by obtaining 112 points from the votes, against 66 points of the judoka Driss Messaoud and 31 points of the boxer Jugurtha Ait Bekka.
In the women’s category, gymnast Kaylia Nemour was ranked by the media in the APS poll, 20 times in first place and 4 times in second place, ahead of boxers Imane Khélif (7 times in first place, 10 times in second and 7 times in 3rd place) and Roumaissa Boualem (3 times in 1st position and 6 times in second).
The distinction for the rising star of the year was awarded to young cyclist Nesrine Houili, honored for her success and her historic qualification in the Paris-2024 Olympic Games. The evening concluded with the presentation of a Special Prize to the USM Alger football team, which had an exceptional year by winning the Confederation Cup and the African Super Cup.
