Dušan Simonović will be the President of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee (COK) for the next four years.
At the Electoral Assembly, 23 out of 35 members voted for the re-election of Dusan Simonović. Twelve members of the Assembly voted for his opponent, Katarina Bulatović, the director of COK.
The Electoral Assembly was held in the University Sports and Cultural Center. At the begining, eight national sports federations proposed Simonović for a new mandate, and three for Bulatović.
After his election Dušan Simonović addressed to the members: “It is a great honor, but also a responsibility, to be re-elected as the president of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee. I am grateful for the trust shown in me by all those who unwaveringly believe in the vision and the direction we are moving. “I see this re-election not only as recognition for the work done so far, but as an opportunity to continue to build an even stronger and more successful Olympic family of Montenegro together with our athletes, clubs and federations. “There are new challenges ahead of us, but I believe that with joint work, dedication and commitment, we can achieve great things on the international stage. Our country has enormous sporting potential, and my mission remains unchanged, to create the best conditions for the development of athletes, strengthening the infrastructure and promoting Olympic values which connect us all” said Simonović.
This is Simonović’s sixth mandate, and he was first elected as the President of COK on May 28, 2003.
