
Olympic and Paralympic Week has officially been launched in France
April 3, 2025The Maltese Olympic Committee (MOC) is actively contributing to the Erasmus+ SAFE HARBOUR project, a groundbreaking initiative launched on 1 January 2025 to improve safeguarding in European sport.
Representing the Maltese Olympic Committee were Charlene Attard, Director of Sport, and Eleanor Bezzina, Chair of the Athletes’ Commission.
SAFE HARBOUR project aims to boost the capacity of the European sports movement to respond to safeguarding concerns and violations by classifying safeguarding responses within and across Europe. Thus, informing the creation of National Strategies, a European Response framework, and a European Network for Safe Sports (ENSS).
The SAFE HARBOUR project will run from January 2025 to June 2027 – under the guidance of the EOC EU Office. SAFE HARBOUR gathers a prestigious consortium involving, International Federations (International Biathlon Union, International Ice Hockey Federation) European NOCs who are ICMG member (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Cyprus, Kosovo, Malta, Montenegro, Portugal, Slovenia), the IOC, and experts and researchers from Thomas More and Asser Institute
The SAFE HARBOUR project is a Cooperation Partnership co-financed by the European Commission through the Erasmus+ Programme 2024.
