It is with great sadness that ICMG has learned of the passing of Mounir Sabet, former 2nd Vice-President of the ICMG and member of the Executive Committee for many years.

Mounir Sabet was a fervent supporter of the Sports Movement and of the Olympic values throughout his life and a great friend. In 2013 he was honoured with the ICMG Order of Merit for his invaluable work and strong commitment to our Organization and the Mediterranean Games.

He was an IOC Member between 1998 and 2016, while he also served as President of Egyptian Olympic Committee from 1990 to 1992, and then 1996 to 2009. In addition to leading Egypt’s NOC with distinction, he was also President of the African Shooting Confederation and a board member of the International Shooting Sports Federation.

On behalf of the Mediterranean Family, ICMG President Mr. Davide Tizzano and Secretary General Mr. Iakovos Filippousis sent the most sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to his family, friends and colleagues.
