During the meeting of the National Council of the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI), Giovanni Malago was re-elected as head of the institution for the next four years (2021-2024).
In office since February 19, 2013, Giovanni Malago was re-elected to the presidency of CONI, at the age of 61.
Malago collected 55 votes from the members of the National Council, against the 13 votes of Renato Di Rocco, former leader of the Italian Cycling Federation.
Thanks to this renewed trust from his colleagues, Giovanni Malago stands out for his longevity at the head of the institution of the Foro Italico, climbing to third place, behind Giulio Onesti (1946 to 1978) and Gianni Petrucci (1999 to 2012).
