After 18 years, there is a change in the leadership of the International Committee of Mediterranean Games, as the Algerian Amar Addadi is succeeded by the Italian Davide Tizzano who was elected President during the works of General Assembly that was held online and was extremely successful.
The new President was unanimously elected and after his election, he said: «I would like to thank all the members of the Mediterranean family for their trust. The aim is to make the Mediterranean Games bigger and stronger. I would also like to thank Amar Addadi for his great contribution to ICMG and on this occasion I want to nominate him for the position of Honorary President of the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games.»

During the General Assembly, the city of Heraklion presented the bid of hosting the Mediterranean Beach Games 2023. After the presentation the members of the Mediterranean family unanimously approved the bidding of Heraklion as the host city.
The activity report presented by the Secretary General Iakovos Filippousis, the financial report as well as the budget for 2022 were also unanimously approved.
It was also decided a change on the ICMG statute and unanimously approved the possibility for the General Assembly and the Executive Committee to be held online.
Finally, the Order of Merit was awarded to Victor Naranjo Sanchez (Spain), Marwan Maghur (Libya) and Stavri Bello (Albania) who became also Honorary Members for their great services in Mediterranean sports.
The Order of Merit was also awarded to General Souhail Khoury (Lebanon), Dinos Michaelides (Cyprus) and Alain Lunzenfichter (France).
President Ammar Addadi, in his farewell speech, thanks the National Olympic Committees and the Mediterranean sports family while asking from everyone to continue working for the development of the Mediterranean Games.
