During the meeting of the CNOSF Board of Directors, at the French Sports House, David Lappartient, President of the UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale) and International Olympic Committee member, was elected President of the National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF) with 36 votes out of 44 and one abstention.
David Lappartient’s mandate will end in 2025, the date of the end of the mandate of his predecessor, Brigitte Henriques, who resigned.
During his career, David Lappartient has demonstrated a strong commitment to the development of sport, particularly in the field of cycling. President, of the French Cycling Federation, President of the European Cycling Union and currently President of the UCI, he has worked actively to promote a culture of integrity and equal opportunity within this sport. He has also played a key role in the organization of renowned international competitions, thus strengthening the influence of cycling throughout the world.
The new CNOSF President said: “I thank the Board of Directors for the confidence. I would like to pay tribute to Brigitte Henriques for her dedication and the work she has done alongside elected officials and CNOSF teams. I am fully aware on the major challenges that are coming, foremost among which: the success of the 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games, the support the French athletes in their effort for excellence and the legacy of the Games so that the momentum that will have been created can irrigate the entire sports movement. »
