March 20, 2025Christian Forcellini, 55 years old, is the new President of the San Marino National Olympic Committee (CONS), the eighth since its founding in 1959. He has led the San Marino Tennis Federation since 2001, and served as CONS vice president for the last two Olympic cycles alongside Gian Primo Giardi, who stepped down after 12 years as president. He was also the chef de mission for the Olympic Games in London 2012 and Paris 2024.
As a tennis player, he participated in the Barcelona 1992 Olympics and played in Davis Cup matches. In athletics, he competed in the World and European Championships and won a bronze medal in the 4x100m relay at the 1999 Games of the Small States of Europe in Liechtenstein. He also plays golf and was the San Marino champion in 2009.
The President of the San Marino Swimming Federation, Marco Giancarlo Rossini, was elected as the new Vice President with 22 votes. As internal members, chosen among the federation Presidents, Emanuele Vannucci (Golf), Maurizio Mazza (Martial Arts), and Mauro Santi (Athletics) were elected to the Executive Committee. The two members without federal roles are Martina Mazza (the most voted with 28 preferences) and Giuliano Tomassini.
Eros Bologna was reconfirmed as Secretary General with 27 votes. At the opening of the National Council, outgoing president Gian Primo Giardi thanked the entire executive team and auditors for their work and bid farewell with a review of his three terms.
