Brisbane 2032 unveils Olympic and Paralympic Games emblems
October 5, 2026A delegation from the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI), led by Secretary General Carlo Mornati, travelled to Los Angeles and took part in a series of operational meetings and visits focused on preparations for the participation of the Italia Team in the next edition of the Summer Olympic Games.
The programme included bilateral meetings at the LA28 Headquarters, during which the Italia Team staff discussed key aspects of Olympic planning with the Organising Committee, including accommodation, transportation and accreditation procedures.
The discussions continued with presentations covering the sports programme, as well as medical matters and healthcare services, while further operational issues related to the preparation and support of the Italian delegation during the Games were also examined.
Alongside the technical meetings, the delegation, comprising Alessio Palombi, Head of the Olympic Preparation Office, and other members of his team, visited several sports venues that will host competitions in 2028.
These included the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, which will host athletics events and will also be used for the Olympic ceremonies, as well as the Carson Velodrome, which will host track cycling competitions.
The Coliseum, which has already hosted the Olympic Games in 1932 and 1984, will become in 2028 the only stadium in history to have hosted athletics competitions at three different editions of the Olympic Games.
The Italian delegation also visited the UCLA campus, which will host the Olympic Village in two years. The visit aimed to examine the characteristics of the different areas of the campus and identify the facilities best suited to the needs of the Italian team, ahead of the stay of Italia Team athletes and staff during the Olympic Games.
The stay in Los Angeles was also used to assess different proposals for Casa Italia, the CONI hospitality house that traditionally accompanies the Italia Team at the Olympic Games.
