The National Olympic Committees  – members of the International Committee of Mediterranean Games made an excellent performance at the Olympic Games held in Paris.

They won 172 medals out of a total of 1036 awarded at the Olympics, a percentage 16.6% of all medals awarded. This fact is a confirmation of the vital and essential role of the Mediterranean Games in the promotion of Sports and Olympic Values ​​and proves the excellent work done by the National Olympic Committees.

The gold medals were 46, 57 the silver medals, and 69 the bronze medals in a total of 2348 athletes who participated in the Olympics from the NOC – members of the International Committee of Mediterranean Games.

A special reference have to be made in France, which took the 5th place in the medal table, with 64 medals, 16 gold, 26 silver and 22 bronze, but also to Italy, which took the 9th place. The Italian team won 40 medals, 12 gold, 13 silver and 15 bronze.

Spain was 15th with five gold, four silver and nine bronze medals.

Albania wrote history by winning the first medals ever at the Olympic Games. Two bronze medals in wrestling, with Chermen Valiev winning bronze in the 74kg freestyle category and Islam Dudaev in the 65kg category.

In four disciplines, the athletes on the podium were from Mediterranean countries.

In the triple jump men’s final: gold Jordan Diaz – Spain, silver Pedro Pichardo – Portugal, bronze Andy Diaz Hernandez – Italy.

In tennis, in men’s singles: gold Novak Djokovic Serbia, silver Carlos Alcaraz Spain. bronze Lorenzo Musetti – Italy.

In men’s BMX cycling: gold Joris Daudet – France, silver Sylvain Andre – France, bronze  Romain Mahieu – France.

In canoe slalom, at men’s single kayak: gold Giovanni De Gennaro – Italy, silver Titouan Castryck – France, bronze Pau Echaniz – Spain.
