Hellenic Olympic Committee launches reconstruction works at the Athens Olympic Swimming Pool
April 29, 2026The 10th edition of the Olympic and Paralympic Week confirms its key role in educating young people through sport!
2,300 educational structures, from nursery schools to higher education, and 125 medical and social care institutions were mobilized to promote physical and sporting activity, as well as Olympic and Paralympic values. The 630,000 pupils and students took part in numerous introductory sessions, meetings with major champions, and will benefit from more than 200 educational resources made available to them throughout the year on the Generation 2024 platform.
Organized by the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF) and the French Paralympic and Sports Committee (CPSF), in partnership with the Ministries of National Education; Higher Education; Sports, Youth and Community Life; Health, Families, Autonomy and Disability; Agriculture, Agrifood and Food Sovereignty; and with the support of school and university federations, this 10th edition brought together more than 630,000 participants: pupils from nursery school to high school, as well as students in higher education and users of social and medico-social services. This significant mobilization once again highlighted to different audiences the importance of physical and sporting activity for the well-being and health of young people.

On the occasion of the launch day, Monday 30 March, the ministries of Agriculture, Agrifood and Food Sovereignty; National Education; Health, Families, Autonomy and Disability; Higher Education, Research and Space; and Sports, Youth and Community Life; along with the CNOSF and CPSF, renewed the framework partnership agreement dedicated to education through sport and the promotion of sport and Olympic and Paralympic values among pupils and students for the years 2026 to 2031. This agreement is structured around five main areas: the development of Olympic and Paralympic sporting culture, the promotion of well-being and access to sport, support for young talents, the promotion of community engagement, and research in sport.
Across France, as well as in French schools abroad, 70 athletes from the French Olympic and Paralympic Team were mobilized during the week to take part in introductory sessions and share their experience with as many people as possible, in order to raise awareness of the importance of physical and sporting activity and the values of Olympism and Paralympism throughout school and university education.

Major names in French sport took part in this 10th edition of SOP, including our godmother and godfather, Marie Bochet — eight-time Paralympic champion in para alpine skiing — and Nikola Karabatić — three-time Olympic handball champion — who visited schools, universities, and medical-educational institutes (IME) throughout the week. Stéphane Diagana (athletics), Tony Estanguet (canoe-kayak), Axel Clerget (judo), Héléna Ciak (basketball), Alice Finot (athletics), Arnaud Assoumani (para athletics), Julia Simon (biathlon), Aurélie Aubert (boccia), Christophe Lemaitre (athletics), the French para alpine skiing team (Hyacinthe Deleplace, Perrine Clair, Oscar Burnham, Jules Segers, Lou Braz-Dagand), and many others also contributed to the success of this week.
