Following the decision made during the ICMG EC meeting on October 20, 2012 in Mersin, Turkiye, to organize the Mediterranean Beach Games every 4 years, the call for applications for the organization of the 1^st edition of the Mediterranean Beach Games was sent to the 24 Mediterranean Olympic Committees and to the concerned IFs.

The deadline for the announcement of candidatures is end of January 2013 while the deadline for the submission of candidature files is end of April 2013. The designation of the host city will be made during the ICMG General Assembly which will be held in Mersin on the 18^th of June 2013.

These Games concern solely water sports and beach sports aiming at bringing together young athletes of the Mediterranean, giving them the opportunity to participate in more sporting events, and attracting the elite in the relevant disciplines.

The sports included in the program of the 1^st Mediterranean Beach Games are the following: Sea Rowing, Beach Badminton, Sea Canoeing, Beach Football, Beach Handball, Kayak Polo, Beach Wrestling, Fin Swimming (swimming pool), Open Water Swimming, Sports Fishing, Beach Rugby, Water Ski &Wakeboard, Surfing, Beach Tennis, Triathlon, Sailing and Beach Volleyball.
