The National Olympic Committee of Tunisia (CNOT) organized a ceremony to honor the Tunisian athletes who represented the country during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The event took place in the presence of the Minister of Youth and Sports, the French Ambassador to Tunisia, representatives of sports federations, supporters and sponsors.
During the ceremony, more than 225,000 dinars were awarded as a bonus to Olympic champion Firas Gattoussi, gold medalist in taekwondo (-80 kg), to fencer Farès Ferjani, silver medalist in sabre, to Khalil Jendoubi, bronze medalist in taekwondo (-58 kg), as well as to runner Rayène Cherni, who was world champion in the 10 km walk during the last World Athletics Championships for under-20s, in Lima, Peru.
CNOT President Mehrez Bousayene, stressed that the ceremony, is dedicate to the medal-winning athletes of the Paris Olympics, as a sign of recognition for those who worked hard to raise the Tunisian flag, in particular those who won medals, those who ranked well in their disciplines or simply participated in the Olympic Games.
“It is also recognition for the efforts and sacrifices made to achieve these remarkable results,” he said.
He explained that, despite the reduced number of participants, Tunisian athletes managed to win three medals and obtain honorable places in certain disciplines thanks to the performances of swimmer Ahmed Jouadi, runners Amine Jhinaoui and Ahmed Jaziri, weightlifter Karem Ben Hnia, as well as the taekwondo athletes Ikram Dhahri and Chaima Toumi, who received an Olympic recognition certificate.
